COAST ROAD POWER.
PROVIDING ELECTRICITY.
QUESTION OF GUARANTEE.
COMMERCE COUNCIL'S INTEREbI
The extension of electricity to the Thames Coast came under discussion
again at the Thames Chamber of Commerce council meeting this morning. After an explanation by the president, Mr. K. S. Hetherington, of the position as it stood at present, it was decided to suggest to the Thames Valley Power Board that a qualified man be put on to make a canvass of the coastal residents.
In answer to a letter sent from the council after its last meeting, the Valley Power Board replied that it was doing everything possible to obtain the residents at the Coast to consent to a guarantee. Circular letters had been sent out and the result of the residents' replies would decide the issue. The president mentioned that the circular letter might prove ambiguous to residents. The guarantee required by the board was £BO6 per annum for a term of five years. In writing further to the board, it was decided to point out the difficulty people were having in answering the circular, and to suggest that the board employ a qualified man to wait on the residents.
