LIGHTING THE COAST.
ELECTRICAL RETICULATION. “POSITION UNSATISFACTORY." BOARD ENGINEER’S OPINION. Consideration was given again this week at the Thames Valley Power □oard’s meeting to the question of reticulating the Thames Coast by electricity. When asked what the position was at present, the chief engineer, Mr. N. G. McLeod, replied that it was not very satisfactory, and that it was the samo as before Christmas. Tho chairman, Mr. J. Price, stated that the Board had the necessary loan money available should the erection of the line be warranted.
Mr. H. M. Corbett asserted that if the lino was put in it would be the best canvasser.
Arrangements for a canvass by circular letter, assisted by Messrs. IT. R, Bush and J. McCormick, were authorised.
VIEWS IN THAMES.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
It was to be regretted that no further advance had been made in tho matter of reticulating the Coast with electricity, stated the annual report of the Thames Chamber of Commerce, presented at the meeting yesterday. A conference was held early in tho year between representatives of tho Thames Valley Power Board, the member for the district and representatives of the Chamber, to implement the acceptance of an offer whereby a donation of £3OO towards the scheme would have resulted. Owing to unfortunate delay in acceptance, the offer had since been withdrawn.
