THAMES COUNCIL MEETING.
KARAKA CREEK FLOODING. ELECTRICITY FOR COAST. The Thames Chamber of Commerce Council met yesterday, the president, Mr. C. J. Garland, presiding. In reply to the council's letter pointing out that many of the business people had improved their frontages in Pollen Street, and asking what steps were being taken to prevent the Karaka Creek flooding in future, the Borough Council advised that the Minister for Mines had been written to requesting that the declaration of the creek as a, sludge channel should be revoked. It was also stated that an impounding scheme was under consideration.
The president reported that a movement was on foot with a view to finalising the extension of electricity to as far as Tapu, on the Thames Coast.
