About 1400 men are at present registered at the placement office at Wanganui, all anxious to obtain Avork on the Okoia-Turakina railway deviation. Work at Fordell is only in the preliminary stage of providing accommodation, and until this is ready }t is unlikely that a large number of men will be employed. A departmental store is being erected at Fordell and other administrative buildings and workshops, on a site nearby, are to follow at an early date. : In addition to the Fordell camp there will be camps at Qkoia, Wangaehu and Turakina.
