IRISHTOWN COMPLAINT.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I haVe read quite a .lot in your paper recently about the Beautifying Society and asking the people to help by planting flowers outside their residences. I hope an effort will he made to stop the practice of people picking flowers. For years now I have grown "flowers outside my residence at Irishtown, and to my disgust they are being repeatedly picked and the bushes broken to pieces. The worst offenders seem to be the nurses from the hospital, who evidently think they are privileged. I have remarked to them about it, but tlhey treat }t rather as a joke and do it again. This afternoon, while I was out, someone had a wonderful time picking the flowers. The walk to Irishtown is a faVourite one on a nice afternoon, and it is most disheartening to see how people pick the flowers. The seeds planted by the late Mr. W. McCuHougb on the mine tip are spreading rapidly, and should be a picture soon. —I am, etc., "IRISHTOWN RESIDENT."
