Canadian Ayrshires.
A UNIQUE RECORD.
The Canadian Ayrshire Breeders' Association reports a new Ayrshire record has been set. when one family of cows —mother, daughter and granddaughter—have each produced more than 100,000 pounds of milk.
" The oldest of the Ayrshires, Briery Belle of Sunny Slope 2nd., bred by Edwin lieid, of Souris, P.E.1., besides exceeding production of the 100,000-pound mark, has just completed a record of 12,003 pounds of milk, 468 pounds of fat, in 365 days. She is 16 years old. Her daughter, Sunny Slope Bonny Jean, owned by W. D. Black, of Waterdown, Ont., 'has produced 103,414 pounds of milk, 4,341 pounds of butterfat, in 2,912 milking days.
The granddaughter, Winswept Betty, owned by Gavin D. Reid, son of Edwin Reid, reached the production mark of 102,082 pounds of milk, 4,221 pounds of fat in seVen lactations.
