Women’s Institutes.
TURUA BRANCH. SIXTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED. AN ENJOYABLE EVENING. The Turua Women's Institute celebrated its sixth anniversary the other evening, visitors attending from the Waikino, Netherton and Kopuarahi Institutes. Old-time dancep and the music of Dan Fisher’s Band were interspersed with varied items. Kopuarahi Institute gave an excellent oneact play, and Netherton Institute an amusing playette. Mrs. K. Mrs. Hill, president of the Turua Institute, welcomed the visitors and cut the birthday cake, iced in the appropriate colours by Mrs. Loader. Candles from the cake were presented to the presidents of the visiting Institutes, and Mrs. Hill received two posies of flowers with the good wishes for the success of the Institute from the visitors.
After supper an enjoyable time was spent in dancing. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. and Miss Pentecost. Mr. J. Schmidt acted as M.C., ajid Mrs. Henry as accompayist.
