INCOME TAX AMENDMENT* Two New Bills. THIS WEEK’S PROGRAMME. SESSION CLOSES NEXT MONTH. (By. Xeiegeapij.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 15. According •to an announcement made last evening by -the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, two new and important Bills are ,likely to- be introduced in the House of Representatives this week. They will be the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, which is expected to be introduced to-day, and the Local Body Reform Bill, providing for the amah gamation of local bodies, which may not come before the House until later in the week.

“The annual taxing bill has already been -introduced,” Mr. •Savage said, “and if we can, bring down the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill in time it may be p'ossible to consider both measures together on Wednesday. I dp. not think any. objection can be taken to this course. The legislation will Trave to be passed before the ‘assessment form# -dan' be distributed.” The Prime Minister added that several bills would have to be brought down within the next few weeks, although most of them, would be of a “washipg-up” or machinery nature. One measure would provide for minor amendments to the Workers’ Compensation Act, although the major hill dealing with that particular problem would be postponed until next year; The'prospects were that the -present session would conclude about the middle of next month. • •
