Compensated Price.

FOR DAIRY PRODUCE. SUPPORTED BY FARMERS. PROHIBITIVE TARIFFS. (Special to “Star.") TE PUKE, Sept. 7. A largely attended meeting of dairy factory . suppliers and others was held in the Parish Hall, Te Puke, when an address on the subject of compensated prices was given by Colonel S. J. E. Closey, at the invitation of the Bay of Plenty Dairy Company.

Colonel Closey stressed the difference between the small amount of New Zealand butter given in exchange for a motor-car overseas, and the amount given by the farmer when he buys a car in New Zealand owing to the prohibitive tariffs, etc.

At the conclusion of the meeting a resolution was passed endorsing Colonel Closey’s explanation of the compensated prices, and pledging those present to use every endeavour to make it an accomplished fact.
