Fatal Car Crashes.

LITTLE BOY KILLED.

THROWN .THROUGH WINDOW. VEHICLE CAPSIZES OVER BANK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). CHUISTCHURCiI, April 20. When a sedan motor-car crashed over an embankment sonic yards on the Christchurch side of the Kakaia Bridge, about noon on Saturday a child was killed and two other passengers were injured. The scene of the accident was about 40 miles from Christchurch. The victims were:— Killed. Clifford Nelson Thompson, aged two years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Thompson, of Waltham Road, Christchurch. Injured. Mrs. W. A. Thompson, aged about 68, of Norwood Street, Beckenham, Christchurch, wife of the driver; injury to back. Mrs. Walker, of 41 Bexley Road; injuries to head and back and broken collarbone.

The car was driven by Mr. William Arthur Thompson, grandfather of the child, and with him were his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Newfield, " of Strickland Street. Spreydon. It is stated the ear turned over twice whe'u it left the road and went down the bank. The child and the women passengers in the back seat were thrown out. The child was thrown through a window and received severe head injuries causing death. Mr. and Mrs. W T alker and Mrs. Newfield had intended going to the Ashburton races by train, and wero on the station, when Mr. Thompson offered them a ride in his car.
