House Surgeons Scarce.
HOSPITAL PROBLEM. BOARD MEMBERS' COMMENT
"It seems to be a waste of time and money advertising for house surgeons," said the chairman of thu Thames Hospital Board, Mr. P. Brenan, at yesterday's meeting'. "The supply falls far below the demand at the. present time, and it appears that the present position Avill continue till 1938."
Mr. W. Madgwiek said that a monopoly had heeii caused throng!) the number of students attending the. Otago University being limited by regulations. This eommnut, was the outcome of a report by the chairman concerning the difficulty experienced by the Board in securing the services of a house surgeon. The Board's recent advertisement had not attracted a'-, single qualified applicant.
