Miss M. E. Clark and Miss M. A. Cooper, trainees at the Thames Public Hospital, passed the State examination for pupil nurses, held in December.
Mr. L. C Alexander, superintendent of the Thames Fire Brigade, with Mrs. Alexander and their son, Mr. L. H. Alexander, have just returned from an enjoyable motoring holiday to the East Coast as far as Opotiki and through to the Galatea Estate, Rotoroa and Reporoa. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lange and son, of Cremorne Point, Sydney, are at present visiting Thames and are tho guests of Mrs. Wilfred Danby. Mr. Lange is an old Thames boy and for many years was employed at Messrs. A. jand G. Price's foundry, He will be remembered by many as the successful conductor of the Kauaeranga Orchestral Society, an excellent organisation which gained much prominence many years ago. Mr. A. J. Murdoch, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, and a member of the board for the southern ward of the North Island, are visiting North Taranaki in connection with the board's new scheme for the group marketing of produce.
Changes and transfers within tho priesthood of the Marist Order announced include (says a Press Association Wellington message) the appointment of the Rev. Father Schaefer, of Highden Seminary, to the Genera! Council of the Society of Mary at Rome. His successor will be the Rev. Dr. D, Kennedy, late provincial of the Order. Dr. F. Rassmussen will be Superior at Greenmeadows Seminary, Dr. Geaney having been transferred to St. Mary's, Christchurch. The Rev. Father J. O'Connor, of St. Mary of the Angels, Wellington, is transferred to Mt. Albert, to be succeeded by Rev. Father T. Hefferman, of St. Patrick's, Sydney. The Rev. Father Spillane, of Wellington, is to be employed on mission work, and Father T. Macarthy has been appointed Simenor oJNthe ,Qrder iu Australia. '
