Air Mail in London. The air mail despatched from New Zealand on November 21 by the Aus-tralia-Singapore service, arrived in London on the 10th irost. Inter-School Tennis. In the inter-school tennis matches played between Thames High School and Ngatea District High School pupils at Thames on Wednesday, Thames won 9 games to 3 by Ngatea. Refused to go to Hospital. Many and varied are the experiences of the St. John Ambulance at Wanganui (states the “Herald.’’) The ambulance received a call from a doctor at 10.30 p.m. to proceed to Parewanui for a medical case. Wool at Wanganui. $ Never before in the history of the Wanganui railway station has such

heavy business been experienced in the delivery of wool, from as far north as Te Kuiti, as recently. The general rush set in with the commencement of shearing, and this has been steadily maintained. For a period of six days up till Wednesday 6105 bales had been delivered in Wanganui.

Not a Receipt Stamp. An incorrect " suggestion has been made that the twopenny Health

stamp can be used as a receipt stamp, but the legal position, according to official information received by Mr. J. Y. Cameron, Postmaster at Thames, is that, under the Finance Act, 1929, it is specifically stated that this stamp may only be used for payment of postage. For "this purpose it is availt able for transmission of correspondence addressed to any part of the world. Health of Hamilton. Approval of the proposed loan for £16,150 for building extensions has been received by the Waikato Hospital Board from the- Loans Board. As ■oon as details have been completed the board will call for tenders for the extensions, which comprise diningroom, kitchens, staff quarters and additions to the nurses’ home at the Waikato Hospital; a new nurses’ home at Matamata; and additions to the nurses’ home at Rotorua. Attention was drawn to the growing number of patients at the hospital. Waitemata Power Fault. Due to the development of a fault in a Public Works Department power line at Hobsonville, electric supply in the whole of the Waitemata Electric Power Board’s area was cut off for half an hour on Wednesday night. Some 10,000 homes were in darkness. The fault developed at 7.43 p.m. For the most part audiences in picture theatres waited until programmes could be begun. success were extended to Mr. R. Coulter, M.P. for Waikato, one of the oldest members in length of service, at last evening’s • meeting of the Thames Harbour Board; also to the Hon. Sydney Trawling Firm, The Sydney "trawhng company of Cam- and Sops, now established at Port Chalmers, has secured a railway site at Dunedin for a fish market, The object of the company is first to supply the needs of the local market and then to ship the remainder of its fish to Sydney. The trawler Olive Cam, which operates off the New South Wales coast, is to leave Sydney for Port Chalmers, and wiU he permanently engaged in local trawling. The Alfie Cam, which has been operating in northern waters and tak* ing her fish cargo to Sydney, will probably make a visit to Dunedin befor the Olive Cam arrives.
