—* — NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE. THAMES SOCIAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Elisor, of Matamata, motored to Thames for the week-end. Mrs. B. Lloyd is on a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. Clemson, who has been at Thames for a short holiday, returned to Tauranga on Monday. Mrs. Cossgrove, a former Thames resident, was staying at the Brian Boru Hotel for the week-end. Mrs. T. Miller is on holiday at Wellington. Mrs. E. Watson, Thornton's Bay, has been staying at Auckland for a few days. Sister Faulkiner, of the staff of the local Hospital, who is leaving Thames shortly to further her studies at St. Helens, Auckland, was the guest of honour at an evening tendered by the sisters and nurses at the Nurses' Home, Baillie Street, on Friday evening. The Golf Club held their official opening at the links, Parawai, on Saturday afternoon. There was a very large attendance of players and their friends, who enjoyed the beautiful weather. Several members from the Paeroa and Hauraki Plains Clubs were present. Among the visitors were: Mesdames Hoult, H. Clemson (Tauranga), Berry, Beck, Davies (Ngalea).
