Thames Trots.
PATENT STARTING BARRIER. TOTE. BETTING SYSTEM. TWO SCRATCHINGS ANNOUNCED. In connection with the annual meeting of the Thames Trotting Club, to be held at the Parawai racecourse on Thursday and Saturday, it is interesting to note that tho Dingwall patent starting barrier will be used for the first time in tho North Island. This barrier has been in use in the South Island for some time, and tests made since its installation at Parawai indicate that it will be a most effective aid to the starter in procuring an even dispatch of the fields. The course is in good order, and the prospects of an interesting day’s racing on Thursday are splendid. The system of betting, 75 —25 per cent, pool and also a place pool, should cater for the requirements of all followers of the sport.
Other horses which have arrived to' fulfil their engagements are: Nimbus and Superfine (A. W. Broughton), Happy Thought (L. Harris), Lady Coronado (T. Lawson), and Nelson’s Glory (C. Morrison).
Winaway and Shining Metal have been scratched for all engagements.
