PROTECTING ACCESS. ; REPORT FOR GOVERNMENT. (By Telegrapn—Press Association). ROTORUA, March 6. The Mayor of Rotorua, Mr. T. Jackson, has been advised by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, that the Commissioner of CroAvn .Lands for the Auckland district has been instructed to proceed to Rotorua and prepare a full report on the question of protecting access to fishing Avaters in the district.

This question has been brought before various Ministers on several occasions and Avas the subject of representations to the Prime Miniliter Avhen ho paid his last visit to the'' district. It, has been claimed by many anglers that access to fine stretches of fishing water has beenblocked by the acquisition of land on the river banks by afforestation companies and other concerns,
