Wedding.
CLEAVE—THORNTON. The wedding was solemnised in St. George’s Anglican Church last week of Gwenivprc Adele, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Thornton, of Thornton’s; Bay, and Robert Henry, eldest son -of Mr. and Mrs. H. Cleave, of Thames. The Rev. A. G. Dawson officiated. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends at the church, which had been tastefully decorated with pink dahlias and contrasting masses of blue hydrangeas and white marguerita daisies. A beautiful bell had been suspended in tho centre of a pink and silver archway. Mr. Barras Gleeson presided at the organ.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of pale pink suede earioco moulded to her figure, the skirt ending in a gracefully flowing train. The bodice was made with a cowl neck, secured by a beautiful cameo brooch, an -heirloom gift of the bride’s late grandmother. A pink veil of Brussels tulle embroidered with silver was mounted on a diamante coronet, and secured by posies of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of tiger lilies caught with pink ribbon. The little flower-girl, Lola Harvey, wore pink ankle-length frilled lace, finished at the neck with a ruffle of tulle. Her headdress was a wreath of pink flowers and silver leaves. She carried a pink satin cushion embroidered with silver ribbons. The two bridesmaids, Miss Kathleen Labarre and Miss Eva Hammond, were attired in pastel green and blue suede crepe albene, with pink silk velvet sashes attached at the waist with diamante buckles and falling to the edge of the hem. They wore wreaths of pink flowers and silver leaves, and carried sheaths of pink zinnias and maidenhair fern.
Mr. M. Cleave acted as best man and Mr. G. Thornton as groomsman.
The reception took place at the Rendezvous tea-rooms, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, whose frock was of black Bemberg georgette and ottoman cord silk, relieved with white. She wore a hat of Baku straw and carried a posy of bronze zinnias and asparagus fern. Mrs. Cleave’s frock was of cardinal sitede crepe, with old-gold trimmings. She carried a bouquet of golden marigolds. The bride’s travelling frock was a hearth green costume, grey hat and bag to tone. The groom’s gift to his bride was a beautiful gold band bracelet, and gold golf bangles to the flower-girl and bridesmaids.
