Tasman Flight.
MONDAY OR TUESDAY. lIEWETT AND KAY READY. NINE HOURS ON TRIP. (A. and N.Z. Cable). SYDNEY, Nov. 8. The New Zealand competitors in the Centenary air race, SquadronLeader J. D. Ilewett and Flying-Offi-cer C. E. Kay, with Mr. F. Stcwurl, who had to say at Cootamundra last night oAving to a storm, landed at Mascot aerodrome, Sydney, at 1.30 p.m. to-day. The airmen had floAvn through a blinding dust storm, Avhich they described as Avorse than anything they encountered in the air race. They intend to carry out their Tasman flight early next Aveek and expect to reach Auckland in nine hours. It is understood that the flight Avill be undertaken on Tuesday from Richmond aerodrome, betA\ T een 5 and 6 a.m. Tho other NeAv Zealand competitors, Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor and Mr. 11. C. Walker, Avill sail Avith their aeroplane by the Monowai for Ncav Zealand to-mor-roAA\ They intend to make an aerial tour of the Dominion.
A cablegram despatched from Sydney at 3.30 p.m. yesterday by HeAvett to his wife in Auckland stated that he proposed to fly to NeAv Zealand on Monday.
