Confectionery Firms.

AMALGAMATION ANNOUNCED. WORKS AT DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association). DUNEDIN, Oct. 30. The amalgamation of the two English companies, John Mackintosh and Sons, Ltd., and A. J. Caley and Son, Ltd., with the Phoenix Company, Ltd., of Dunedin, is announced as a result of the recent visit to England by the manager'of the local company, Mr. St. Clair Ferguson. The manufacturing of the products of these English companies, as well as numerous lines manufactured by the Phoenix Company, will be carried on at the local company's works in Dunedin. The arrangement provides, in addition, for the sole distribution of these products throughout New Zealand. The combination will be known as the Mackintosh, Caley, Phoenix Company. Arrangements have been completed for the installation in Dunedin of the latest machinery in use by the English firms.
