An alpine accident that might easily have had- more serious consequences occurred on the North Egmont summit track yesterday .afternoon. Five menipers of a party of 17 which was returning from the summit slipped on crusted snow at about the 7000 foot ' level.' ' The climbers fell about 300 ft. down the hard snow slope, bumping over rock:> on the way, and" suffered scalp wounds and abrasions. They were pulled up by soft snow. The other climbers Were handy and gave first aid and the "party reached the North Egmont Hostel between 6 and 7 o'clock. The five climbers concerned who were all roped together were Miss Nancy Gannaway," Auckland,* cuts above right eye and abrasions; Rod Syme, Hawera, cuts and abrasions; Morton Jones, New Plymouth, injury to right arm; Desmond Ryan, Hawera, scalp .wounds and... general abrasions; Kenneth ij Joblin,.
