More Publicity.
COUNTY COUNCIL’S BUSINESS
LESS WORK IN COMMITTEE. Cr D. Courtney, of the Puriri Riding, Thames County, voiced a protest at yesterday’s meeting of the .Council against the lack of publicity in regard to tho, conduct of the Council’s affairs at the monthly meetings, due to the fact that much of the business is conducted in committee.
Cr Courtney said that some of the ratepayers in his riding were complaining that not enough of the County business was being divulged through the Press. He said he wanted to take the blame off th Press and asked was it necessary that so muck business ,was done in committee.
Tho chairman, Mr H. Lowe, said that it was not necessary.
Cr Courtney: We have nothing to hide from the ratepayers. ,
The chairman moved, and Or Courtney seconded, that in future a report from the Finance Committee be prepared by the c’erk and read in open meeting.
