The Mercury Bay hockey representatives will play the Coromandel rep: cscnlativs on Bat unlay and a good game is anticipated. Mr S. Fielding, an old Coroglcn identity, died lasl week and was buried at Mercury Bay Cemetery 01. Thursday. A large number ot old friends paid their last respects. The Mercury Bay girls' hockey club played a, match against the buys last Saturday, but Liie young men were Loo good for them, winning by three goals to nil. This match was for a dinner, which was held at Mrs B. White’s boarding house, each girl having to pay for an opponent. .Next Friday is the big night at Mercury Bay when the Rugby Union hold the annual 'social and distribution of trophies. Mr F. Rhodes is installing a wireless set for the evening,. also electric lights. Trophies to be presented are the Birch, White, Bryce and Kidd Cups, and the Rhodes Shield. Mr S. Bryce, manager of the Jackman Estate, Mercury Bay, reports that ho and one of his men discovered a dead lamb on the Mill Creek run with a hole in the head and the bottom jaw a few feet away from the carcase. The circumstances were a mystery as there were no pig tracks in the locality.
