BROADFOOT RETIRES. BOUT WITH MeINNES. > (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, June 4. The professional boxing contest between Tommy Mclnnes and Jim Broadfoot at the Town Hall last evening ended in a .disappointing fashion, Broadfoot retiring after the sixth round owing to the pain he was suffering from an injured ear. Up to that point, the bout had been fast and interesting, and although Mclnnes had established a lead, there was every prospect that the fi,’ht would be keenly contested to the end. In the best contest seen in Hastings for yeras, Cyril -Thompson _ defeated Jack Cossill (Palmerston North) on points in a professional boxing contest of 15 rounds last evening. SULLIVAN BEATS CAMPBELL. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent) INVERCARGILL, June 4. The professional boxing contest between Alan Campbell (Timaru), 12st 41b, and Bill Sullivan (Hastings), 12st 21b, staged here last night, resulted in a win for Sullivan on points after 15 rounds of hard fighting.
