TEACHERS AND BOYCOTT

RESULT OF ENQUIRY

(Special to Star.) AUCKLAND, June 2

The result of an inquiry held by the chairman arid secretary of the Auckland Education Board into the alleged boycotting by teachers of

business people at Thames, was made known at a meeting of the Board

yesterday

The inquiry was held as the result of evidence implicating teashers being tendered at an inquiry into Post and. Telegraph employees’ action at Thames.. The result of the inquiry was that teachers cleared themselves

of any connection with the alleged boycotting. It was found that the secretary of the local branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute had led the section secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department to believe that teachers were concerned, but evidence showed this was contrary to fact. The result of the inquiry will be notified to the Hon. R. Masters, Minister of Education, who requested it.

some days last week an inquiry was held behind closed doors by the' Education Department in the Central School, into the allegations that some local school teachers had ’ allied themselves with certain P. and T. officers in the establishment of a boycott of 11 Thames business firms. Mr T. B. Strong (Director of Education), has been in Thames also, but would make no statement as to the reason for his presence.—-sd, Star].
