RE-VALUATION.
. MOREINSVILLE BOROUGH. FORCED INTO POSITION. The Morrinsville Borough Council has decided to apply to the ValuerGeneral for a revaluation of the whole borough. This is the outcome of numerous revaluations during the past two years which have resulted in a considerable reduction, in the rateable value of the borough. In passing a resolution to this effect the .council placed on record-;, that it did so with regret, as it had been forced into this position by circumstances.
“There is only one line of action for us to take,” said the Mayor, “and that is to go for a revaluation of the whole borough. I cannot see any other way. I wish I could.” In bringing the matter forward the Mayor said councillors all knew that Morrinsville was being seriously affected by recent revaluations obtained under sections 45 and 50 of the Valuation of Land Act. fiction was taken by the previous council, which had circularised other local bodies in September, 1930, but with very little result. Recently the council had again circularised local bodies asking for support to get legislation passed at the coming session to have the Valuation Act suitably amended. He thought that periodic revaluations of each borough would solve the matter.
