MAN ELECTROCUTED.
NEAR TE AROHA.
REPAIRS TO POWER LINE.

A fatal accident occurred at Mangaiti, near Te Aroha, yesterday, when Mr Charles Edward Quigg,* aged 29, a linesman, employed by the Public Works Department, was electrocuted. Mr Quigg and two other men, Messrs V. Prince and C. Anderson, were employed in repairing a Public 'Works Department telephone line connected to the poles of the 50,000volt power line which runs between Te Aroha and Paeroa. Deceased and his companions* were on the ground and had joinea and strained the telephone lines. A further strain was apparently applied to the line from the Paeroa end, with the result that it came into contact with the power line. The three men received a severe shock and were knocked down. Mr Quigg was killed instantly. Messrs Prince and Anderson soon recovered. Mr Quigg was a single man and lived at Matamata. He had been in the employ of the Department for a number of years.
