OBITUARY.
MR. CHARLES GLEESON,
There passed away at his residence on Saturday Mr Charles Gleeson, a well-known and highly respected resident of Thames, in his 86th year. The late Mr Gleeson was born at Auckland, and for many years conducted successful bakery businesses at Auckland and Huntly. Some years ago he retired from active work and came to Thames, where he spent his declining years. He was a keen bowler, and spent most of his summer afternoons on the Thames green. He was highly esteemed by his fellow-members, and at the opening ceremony for a number of years past was given the honour of bowling the first bowl. In his younger days Mr Gleeson was a representative cricketer, and played for Auckland against the visiting English teams. He is survived by his widow, four sons and fours daughters. The sons arfe: Matthew and Roy (Taupiri), 'Claude (Auckland), and Sidney (Warkworth). The daughters arerMesdames Sylvester (Taupiri), McLeary (Thames), Black (Auckland), and Miss B. Gleeson (Taupiri). The late Mr W. R. Gleeson, of Karaka Road, Thames, was also a son.
