MEETING OF BOARD. IMPORTED SCHOOL BOOKS. PROTEST AGAINST PRICE. Dr. J. B. Logins presided over the monthly meeting of the Thames H.jrli School Board on Tuesday, there also being present Messrs J. Galloway, C. S. Donovan, S. C. Muir, R G. Wayne, J. W. Danby, A. Burn.: and the secretary (Mr J. Kevnlck). Chairman Re-elected. The meeting being the statutory one calling for the election of chairman, Mr A. Burns proposed and Mi Danby seconded the re-election of Dr. Liggins, Avhich was carried unanimously. Oil at Waiorongomai. The Inspector of Mines forwarded a report on an application for a mineral oil licence on the Board's endowment at Waiorongomai. The secretary's reply to the receiver of gold revenue at Te Aroha asking that the matter be dealt with in conjunction with the Inspector's report was approved. Waiorongomai Township. The Piako County Coitnril, through its solicitors, forwarded suggestions as to reserving certain poi'tions of the Waiorongomai township. The matter of protecting tho Board's interests was left in tho hands of the chairman and secretary. Imported School Books. The Hutt Valley High School wrote asking for the Board's support in protesting to the Booksellers' Association against the hi'li price of imported text books. The Board resolved to add it.«i voice to the protest. Finance. Accounts amounting to £351/19/6 were passed for payment. Visiting Committee. The chairman and Mr A. Bii'in mere appointed to the Visiting Cum mittee for the ensuing month.
