ALLEGED MURDER.
CHARGE AGAINST i PURCHASE OP KNIFE AND POISON. CONDUCT AT HOSPITAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 20 The hearing of the charge of murder against George Rameka. ivas ri turned in the Police Court to-day. A woman living in the house at which Rameka arrived after the stabbing of. Mrs Johnson said he appeared like a man walking in his sleep. When she asked him what was wrong he replied: "My girl has turned me down after I have given her £24, and also the last £7. She turned me down and also her people." Dr O'Brien, of the Auckland Hospital, said Rameka was under'* his care for about eight days. After his admission on the day of the murder he showed no mental abnormality. Two shop assistants said they remembered a Maori buying a knife at about 8.30 on the morning of the murdei - , and a chemist said a Maori bought a bottle of poison on the previous afternoon, add MURDER Wini Anaru, a young Maori who lived with accused, said accused arose before daybreak on June 24 and left .the house at 6, saying he would be back at 8 o'clock. Cross-examined, he said accused and Mrs Jobnson were very friendly. When she came with accused to accused's lodgings they made love, and when he went with accused to see Mrs Jolinson when she was ill they were still making love, and Mrs Johnson said to witness: "Jimmy, take care of my husband."
