WAIHI’S VIEW.
HOSPITAL AMALGAMATION. THAMES BUILDING CONDEMNED ECONOMIC POSITION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIHI, July 15 That the serious condition of the national finance necessitated amalgamation, with a view to preventing eeoomic waste, was the burden of a letter from the Director-General of Health, Dr M. H. Watt, read at a meeting of the Waihi Hospital Board last evening. The letter intimated Dr Watt's intention to convene a conference of delegates at an early date, to consoler amalgamation of the Thames, Waihi and Coromandel hospital districts. In the course of discussion it was stated that, in the event of fusion, the hospital should be in a more central part of the combined district than Thames, where the building was also an old and unsuitable wooden structure. It was decided to hold a special meetiiur to consider the position.
