WORK STARTED.
MERCURY BAY WHARF. CONTRACTOR COMMENCES. The contractor, Mr B. V. Rope, has received work from the Public Works Department that operations on the new wharf at Mercury Bay may be commenced. A team of 12 men has arrived at the Bay, and the preliminary operations were put under way yesterday. In addition to the contractor’s regular crew, it is likely that a certain amount of work will be available for Bay residents. The work was previously hung up owing to the Public Works Department requiring a number of alterations to the plans.
