DISTRICT NEWS.
TURUA. CHURCH DANCE. (From Our own Correspondent.) In spite of the inclement weather a good attendance of dancers graced the floor of the Turua Hall at a dance held by the Turua Church of England Ladies' Guild. Financially, the function proved a success. Visitors were present from Kerepeehi, Kopuarahi, Ngatea, Waitakaruru, and Thames. Excellent music was supplied by Claude Fisher and his "Collegians," and a delightful supper was provided by a number of local ladies. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs L. Clotworthy and Mr C. Hamilton, the prize for the spot waltz going to Miss Thelma Pearce and Mr ,-Whelan, both of Thames. Mr Arthur Sutton. ably officiated as M.c. Football. Turua seniors play Patetonga at Turua on Saturday. The following juniors will represent Turua in their match against Old Boys at Paeroa:— Connors; Ryan, Corner, McConnell; J. Madgwick, A. Elvin; S. Elvin; K. Hamilton, Pike, Gray, H. Griffiths, McCormick, W. Elvin. L. Elvin, H. Aberhart. Emergencies: A. Olsen, C. Madgwick. Basketball. Turua Old Girls meet Turua School on Saturday next. The following players will represent Old Girls: —Misses C. Harvey, J. Loader, F. Reid. E. Gray, E. Lovedaf, G. Ilainiton, B. Sutton, 1). Walker, 0. Green.
