WITH THE GALLOPERS.

THE WELLINGTON MEETING. To-morrow's Programme. THE'FIELDS REVIEWED. NOTES BY "CANARD." To-morrow will see thu flags Hying at Trentham for the winter meeting, and some useful fields are engaged, despite the big drop in stakes. The Matai Steeples, of 21 miles, heads the list with 13 engaged. Corneroff is useful, whilst West Dome (not a sure conveyance), Uintali (;i winner at Dunedin), Winter Day, Panorama (not too bad), will all have followers. Senora might also do well, but the best appear to be: Urn tali, Pangolin, Winter Day, from: MATAI STEEPLES, Of £250; about 2J miles. Corneroff 10.13, West Dome 10.11, Umtali 10.8, Winter Day 10.7, Pangolin 10.0, Panorama 9.9, Kaokaoroa 9.7, Taramoa 9.5, Thurina 9.4, Senora 9.2, Modestrian, Jiu Jazz, Fresh Breeze 9.0. The Woburn six has a few roughies, and nothing really outstanding. Navaho won at Hawke's Bay, Lord Val is well and is expected at the meeting; Water Power does not appeal much, but Rekarakau, Valrewa and Nornianby may have friends. The best read: * Navaho, Wild Country, Kekarakau, from:— WOBURN HANDICAP, Of £200; G furlongs. Navoho 10.7, Lord Val 10.3, Water Power 9.5, Shootist, Grand Acre, Rekararau 9'2, Normanby, Blue Heaven, Wild Country, Azure, Sweet Sue, Valrewa 9.0. There are 1G in the Vittoria Hurdles, the bulk of them being minus any real testing experience. In a race that is likely to provide following can clear the battens: more thrills by falls than jumps, the Land Mark, Callamart, Llandudno, from:— i VITTORIA HURDLES. Of £225; 11 miles. Goshawk 10.11, Tunbridge 10.10, Llandudno, Panther 10.8, Land Mark, Callamart 10.3, Staghunter, Auctioneer 9.8, Callapat 9.7, Okapua, Nassock 9.6, Unoco 9.5, Cool Mint 9.2, Cossack Chief, Royal Mint,. Gourmet 9.0. ■ There is a good field in the Steward's, and the issue is very clouded. Weight will stop the best, but Manawhenua and Royal Saxon are both well, whilst Inevitable is like her name. She must some time. Knollmere is in form, and Manifesto, Royal Finance, Tobaccoland and Coon Song all are above the average in the.mud. Form points to: Tobaccoland, Manawhenua, Royal Finance, from: STEWARDS' HANDICAP. Of £200; 6 furlongs. Royal Saxon 10.9, Manawhenua 10.5, inevitable, Fitz Quex 10.0, Portray 9.12, Prince Val 9.10, Assemble, Knollmere 9.7, Moa Bird, Manifesto 9.C, Royal Finance 9.4, Head Serang, Tobaccoland 9.3, Royal Game 9.2, Arajean, Coon Song- 9.0. The fact that the steeples is run on the flat will nullify a bit of the G.N. form, and this makes it interesting. Red Fuchsia has the top with 10.10, but will have to foot it with some of the rest at the end of 3i miles, if the pace is on. Claremore did not like the hill at Ellerslie, and Lucess was not the stayer anticipated. This might suit him better. Tuki has to light Anno Domini as well as the field, and the same applies to Fabriano, though he will get round. Spalpiko must be hard if he sees it out. but St. Warrigal reads much better. Nukumai has a plodder's chance, and the same defines Matu. Dark Prince is fair, but of the lightweights Coney and Paris read the best. The issue may include : St. Warrigal, Claremore, • Copey, 5-

from: WELLINGTON STEEPLECHASE, Of £750; about 31 lili es lied Fuchsia 10.10, Claremore 10.5, Lucess 10.2, Tuki 9.12, Fabriano 9.10, Spalpiko, St. Warrigal, Nukumai 9.9, Matu, Dark Prince 9.4, Radiac 9.2, Tunamoe, Coj)ey, Revel, Bon Aryan, Paris 9.0. The Hurdles sees a good field, too, with the G.N. winner, Prince Lu, at the top with 11.5. It may stop him. Space will not permit a detailed review, but Carinthia, Make Up, Amorist, High Pitch, Cristobel, Singleton, and Apache will all be handy if up to form. It is a hard race to sort out, but there should be money for: Amorist, Singleton, Cristobel, from: TRENTHAM HURDLES. Of £400; 13 miles. Prince Lu, Carinthia 11.5, Make Up 11.2, Conjurer 11. 10.9, Amorist 10.7, Nucleus 10.4, High Pitch 10.1, Full Mark 9.11, Cristobel 9.10, Membo 9.9, Troilus, Singleton 9.5, Apache 9.3. High Pitch claims an engagement in the Whyte Memorial, and it is assumed he will take this on. Taaneriri, for all his weight, will take some beating in the Whyte Memorial, and the field is no easy one for punters. When all is ended the public choice may include: Taaneriri, Little Doubt, Ephialtes, from: WHYTE MEMORIAL HANDICAP. Of £400; 1 mile. \ Taaneriri 10.11, Merry Damon 10.10, Royal Saxon 10.7, Mount Boa, Town Major 10.2, ICahikatoa 10.1, Mahora 9.12, Ephialtes, Little Doubt 9.11, Red Boa 9.9, High Pitch 9.3, Rascal, Black Mint, Royal Opera, Topere 9.0. The final'for the first day is the Te Aro Handicap, in which the publiey fancy may incline to: Adventus, The Sim, Arrow Zone, from: TE ARO HANDICAP. Of £200; seven furlongs. Punchetsown 11.2, The Smuggler 10.12, Nightmare 10.8, Seneschal 10.5, ’Adventus, Semper Paratus 9.10, The Sun 9.9, Water Power 9.3, Arrow Zone, Kissless, Miss Chatter, Martian Chief, Manuiri 9.0.
