FOOTBALLERS' BAD LANGUAGE.
(To the Editor). Sir,—Through the medium of youi paper I should like to correct an impression which may have been made upon aiind of the public that Rugby as played at Thames lacks the cleanliness of that played in other centres; I refer to the report published in Tuesday's issue of the "Star" concerning obscene language in the local games, as dealt with at the meeting of the Referees' Association on Monday evening. In fairness to the local players I would state that after controlling a number of senior matches this season only in one game have I noticed unseemly language. The question of dealing with such an offence was dealt with at the said meeting as any other law of the game which has been broken is, and it was not intended by the Association nor the reporter to the Press to convey the impression that the local players were abnormally lax concerning this matter.—l am, etc., ALFRED PEAR,
