FROM ALL THE WORLD OVER. By Land, Sea And Air. jGAMES, PASTIMES, SPORTS. 1 SCISSORED, PINCHED & STOLEN. There is still good money in Australia for fast athletes. The mascot bulldog which the famous cartoonist, Tom" Webster, presented to the Australian cricketers, has been christened "Googly." It is not travelling with the team, as there is nobody to look after it, and at present it has been returned to Webster. Mr. Arthur Mailey, Mr. W. Fisher, of Sydney, and Mr. Vaughan, of Cootamundra, are presenting the team with a more convenient, if less lively, mascot, in the shape of a large kangaroo, which can be deflated for travelling and blown up when the team is stationary. Tin's was handed over to Woodfull by the noted actress, Margaret Bannerman, at a performance at time Lyceum, which the team attended.

Much indignation was caused at Cannes among the regular spectators by the actibn of the lawn tennis authorities is allowing the finalists, Tilden and Coen, to divide the men's singles prize because they are friends and did not wish to play against one another. The women's singles prize between Miss Ryan and Baroness von Reznicek was also divided because the baroness had left for Germany. When the announcer gave out this news, the spectators shouted their disapproval, and demanded their money hack. Tilden and Coen—the latter is only 19 years old—have been close friends for some years. It was Tilden was "discovered" Coen and took him to Wimbledon in 1928, when he also played for the America Davis Cup team against China. In the same year he reached tho semi-final of the London championships.

An incident believed to be without precedent in internatidnal football, occurred in .the closing 'minutes of the recent match at Aberystwyth between the amateurs of Wales and England, when G. S. Watson, of the visiting ' side, was adjudged by the referee to have perpetrated a dangerous foul, and was ordered off the field. As Watson made his way dejectedly to the pavilion, H. Nicholls, the Welsh captain, approached the presiding official and enmestly entreated him to allow Watson to remain. The sportsmanlike request was acceded to, and the game, won by England by two goals to one, proceeded happily to its finish without any unpleasant afterthought to mar its memory. The referee's word is law, of course, in such matters, and his job is an exceedingly difficult one at any time, but the cheers that greeted his willingness to believe the best on this occasion showed quite clearly that the crowd with Nicholls that the offence was devoid of maliciousness.
