The discovery that there was an unexpended balance of unemployment relief work loans, amounting to £40,000, at the same time as a recommendation was tabled that j preparation be made to raise another £25,000 for unemployment relief, provoked" the criticism of the Works Committee at last night's meeting of the City Council, and calls were made for an investigation, including the engineering department. The clause was taken back by the committee that brought it forward.
