THANKS, AUCKLAND!
It is easy to be seen that as far as the Auckland Rugby Union is concerned it has little time for its cousins in the country, that is, if its actions in connection with the booking for the seats at the matches in Auckland against the British team be taken as a criterion of its views. The Auckland Rugby Union, having been granted control of the match arrangements by the New Zealand Rugby Union, has apparently seen fit to farm out the reservation of seating to a sports depot, and this has laid down rules to suit itself. What it does not suit at all are the followers of Rugby from one end of the Auckland Province to the other. The attitude taken up by the Auckland Rugby Union that only those persons who are fortunate —or perhaps, unfortunate —enough to be resident in Auckland shall have the chance of witnessing the matches between the British team and Auckland and New Zealand, savours very much an attempt to introduce undesirable preferential elements, and as such lays the methods of that body open to grave suspieipns. The Auckland Rugby Union has virtually said to the residents of the Auckland Province: "These matches are for town persons only, it is all very well for you country people to come here, to spend your mbney when there is nothing much on, but when there is a really big match on the tapis you must realise that you are junt country cousins, and,■'•as such, be content to.scramble in the trough. The cream is for those who exist and breathe the superior air of Auckland city." ./
