(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 1.

The Minister of Transport, the Hon. W. 8.. Taverner, states that the recent Traffic Accident Conference recommended that licences of drunken or negligent drivers who cause accidents shall be eompulsorily cancelled for a minimum, period of six months in the case of drunkenness, for three months for negligence and for second and subsequent offences for driving without licences, the Court shall be (empowered to inflict imprisonment. It also recommended the speed limit to be 45 miles rer hour in rural localities and 25 miles. an hour in urban localities. With regard to the level crossings, it recommended the growth, on even private property, should be eompulsorily removed.. The conference favoured a uniform system of traffic law enforcement.
