LAST NIGHT'S MEETING
MORRINSVILLE TO CHANGE COLO U life?
Mr, H. G. Murray presided over the following members and delegates at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Thames Rugby Union, Messrs. C. Eearn, G. Pollock, P. Treblilcock, E. P. Cooke, L. Sutcliffe, J. Spraga;on, F. Vedder, L. Estcourt, J. A. Pratt, W. A. Kelly, A. Morrison, A. Delamore and L. Crawford-Watson. Mr. Jfi. O. Brownlee was also in attendance. „ The suggestion that August 30 would be a suitable date for the return match at Tauranga was left to the match committee, whilst next Saturday was set down as the Birch Cup fixture against Coromandel.
Junior Competition Won.
The secretary reported that the junio./ competition had been won by College Old Boys. Mercury Bay's Visit.
The chairman referred to the visit of the Mercury Bay representatives on Saturday, and stated that they had put up a good fight, as they were but a young team. The game had been clean and sporting and played in the right spirit of football. He suggested that the Union, if it still held it, should send the Birch Cup on tour to Mercury Bay when the return match was played.
The Morrinsville Game.
Mr. Estcourt reported upon the senior team's defeat at Morrinsville, Mr. Trebilcook reporting for the juniors and Mr. Cooke for the winning ' third grade. The chairman expressed the thanks of the Union to the managers. No First-Aid Man.
Mr. Brownlee brought to the Union's notice that there had been no first-aid man present at Morrinsvillte on Saturday, and thought that one should be in attendance. He had thought thai the district was served from Hamilton. A Sporting Letter.
The secretary of the'High School Club reported that in a recent fourth grade match several High School boys who were third grade had played, and the club wished the match to be awarded to P.T. The chairman commented that it was a most sporting letter and their action was to be commended. It was the right spirit of the game. Will Morrinsville Change?
Mr Estcourt suggested that, owing to the confusion of colours, Morrinsville might. be (approached tactfully to change their colours, since there was such a similarity and since Thames had been first in the field with the blu,o and black. This had been done down south.. He suggested that the Auckland Rugby Union be approached in the matter, and that body could take the matter, up with the Waikato Union. , Matches for Saturday.
