ADVICE ON ARAPUNI.
To get the best advice on the Arapuni hydro-electric scheme is the obvious course and one which the Government is following. All the local experts are being asked to advise and the Prime -Minister has announced that a specialist is to be brought in from outside. It may be 'that his diagnosis will be the same as that of the local doctors, but at least to consult him will give confidence and assurance that everything has been done for the patient. The result of that consultation is of national importance. The question is whether to spend a quarter or half a million on patching up Arapuni (by strengthening the headrace, spillway and overflow channel) or whether Nature has taken charge and the patient cannot be saved.
