The plea that he had gone into laundry to change a £1 note did cnot avail Samuel McShane, aged 56, 'isai tailor, who was charged with stealing it from Nang Sun and Co. A Chinaman named-Ling See gave ••evidence that he *came : back from snaking a purchase, and found the under the counter with the aiote in his hand. A struggle endued, evidence with regard to which ■was given by other witnesses. The accused had a list of previous -convictions and was given three f.snonths' imprisonment.-
