WEEK-END GAMES.
SPORTS FOR TO-MORROW.
RUGBY AND HOCKEY.
Despite the fact that the Thames Rugby Union's senior and junior rep. teams are to try conclusions with Morrinsville in the Waikato town, there is any amount of sport available for the lover of games occuring in Thames over the week-end.
At Rhodes Park there will be a challenge for the Birch Cup the Mercury Bay Rugby Union for the locals to withstand, and as the country combination is largely composed of young players, the public . can look forward to some interesting and bright football. ;
The curtain-raiser will be between High School and Physical Training and should also provide some bright clashes.
Thames has/held the Birch Cup for some considerable time, too* long, in fact, and the securing •-* of this trophy by ah 'outside team • would give a fillip to tfountry football, 'as well as assist the sub-unions to maintain their interest.
In the hockey arena the competifor the Gage-Brown Cup m& be carried on and should be the scene of some close contests.! Players will be on the alert for the prospects of a game in the White Horse : Cup tourney will appeal to all. '.'•
In basketball which, though hardly as well known as. some of the other game's; is steadily gaining ; popularity, and js growing very fast, the cup competitions will be continued, and here there should ' 'be some'Sterling contests. '■ The various teams are:— ' • ■
