."ENTRY THROUGH BACK DOOR.
/SATURDAY NIGHT INCIDENT. , _ _ t Burglars entered the shop of URlessrs George Martin, Pollen Street, -on Saturday -evening, and got away with a sum of money, estimated at £3O. The.shop was closed in the-usual ;way at noon on Saturday, everything being left safe. When the proprietors returned it •was found that the back door had "been broken into and entrance' effjfected to the shop. A search disclosed the fact that a. sum of money, part of the takings, which had been left on the premises, had disappeared. The police were at once inform<ed, and .Sergt. Macnamara investi-. gated the position/ Apparently the ■thieves were in search of money only, since so far as is known at present nothing else is missing. It is believed that the burglary -"took place between the hours of 7 p.m. and midnight. Up to the present this district has "been singularly free-from breaking, -entering and theft crimes,- although quite a number have been reported rfrom other parts of the North Island recently. . : . , .
