The public accounts for the nine months t« December 31 show the revenue to be £16,338,212, an increase of £1,324,349. j Allowing for the fluctations, this* actually represents £1,150,000. The principal increases are:—» Customs, £866,932 (largely from motor vehicles); land tax, £71,109; interest, £122,214; miscellaneous, £BB,IOB. The expenditure was £18,858,671, an increase of £1,630,087, the principal items being £139,227; repayment of public debt, October, 1925, £1,029,283; under special Acts, £424,548. The Prime Minister considers the figures show a reasonable prospect of the accounts balancing on the right side.
