A recent visitor to Thames was Uti Leon Bossard, doctor of geology and petrology, of Zurich University, Switzerland. He has been very interested in geology of ,the district. x
Mr. James Tyler was appointed city engineer. by the Auckland City Council last evening in succession to' Mr. ■W, E. Bush, to whom he was assistant, prior to the latter's • acceptance of an appointment in Brisbane. Since Mr. Bush's departure Mr. Tyler has been acting-city engineer.
