THE SALVATION ARMY.

ORANGE GROVE FAIR

On Thursday evening next, Mr. P. H. Claxton will cpen in the Salvation Army Hall, the “Orange Grove Fair” in connection with the annual selfdenial effort of the local corps. The programme to be presented on Thursday evening includes items by Williams’ Orchestra, Misses Ritchie, Miss N. Tenge and others, promises to lie a good evening’s enjoyment, apart from the round of well-laden stalls of useful and well made gifts. The Fair will be open on Friday afternoon at 2.30 p.m. On Friday evening a choice programme will be rendered by the children of the Sunbeam and Chum Brigades, which is always a popular evening’s entertainment. A great deal of interest is being shown in the Baking Competition in connection with the Fair, when prizes will be awarded for the best baking in four different classes, including scones (plain and fruit), fruit and madiera cake, sponges, jam rolls and home-made bread, biscuits and assorted pastry. Mr. F. D. Hain, the local b/iker and pastrycook, will be the judge. The results will be made known on Thursday evening. We commend the “Orange Grove Fair” to the patronage of the public and so assist the Salvation Army in their social and missionary work.
