COUNTY ELECTIONS.

THAMES RESULTS.

ONE SEAT IN DOUBT

WAIOMO PROPOSAL LOST. The County elections were held yesterday. The polling was not quite up to expectations. Mr Winder was unseated for Hikutaia riding, while in Tairua riding Mr Prescott, the late councillor, is one behind Mr Cory-Wright, a previous member of the Council. There is one declaration vote to come, which may cause a tie, in which case the position will be decided by lot. The Waiomo proposal was lost by 37 votes. The returning officer, Mr D. Mackay, hopes to complete the official recount this week, providing the Tairua papers come to hand in time. Hastings Riding.
