SURVEYOR’S CRIME. ' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 9. John Edward Thomas O’Sullivan *(27), a surveyor, arrested in Sydney and brought back yesterday, pleaded guilty to five charges of forging Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal receipts to a total of £IOB/15/-, and was committed for sentence.
ALLEGED ABDUCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIROA May 9. Alexander McKee, an elderly man, charged with abducting a 10-year-old girl, pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate committed him for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Napier. GUILTY OP ASSAULT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. In the Supreme Court, Frederick 'Richardson, a gardener, was found guilty of assaulting John Armstrong at Papanui on March 8, and causing bodily harm. He was remanded for sentence. The case was the sequel to a quarrel in which Armstrong wag wounded ■with shot-gun pellets.
HARD-WORKING STOW'AWAY.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, May 9.
John Frederick Graydon (20), who *towed away on the Kaituna at Melbourne on May 1, appeared before "two Justices to-day, and was convicted and discharged. The captain gave Graydon a good character, saying he worked well during the voyage as a carpenter. The crew subscribed half his fare, and -the Union Company accepted this in consideration of the work done.
ALLEGED PERJURY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND .May 9. Julius Bartli, a middle-aged man, and a bailie for 13 years, pleaded not guilty to the charge of perjury, and reserved his defence. He was cone mitted for trial. After serving a summons on a woman Barth left another for a relative with her and, according to the statement produced by the police, he declared both summonses to be personality served, whereas the woman’s relative was in hospital when the other summons was left.
