Remits carried at the Acclimatisation ' Societies’ Conference were as follow That the rights of the Taupjp District fishing licenses be extended to include Waikato River to Waiotapn Bridge, that the Government he asked to take steps to prevent Roto Aria fish from getting into Taupo waters; that the Government be requested to set up an Advisory Board with respect to "Taupo fisheries and that Acclimatisation Societies' he given representation on such hoard; that the Government he requested to prevent any powerbeat being allowed on the Tongariro ' River, as the presence of such a boat is inimical to the best Interests of anglers; that the Government be asked to remove protection from ferrets, weasels, stoats and polecats, except in rabbit infested areas. The conference also carried remits asking that rangers slioudl have the right to search parcels in transit in cases under the Fisheries Act similar to the. powes given under the Animals . Protection and Game Act; that in all cases of conviction for illegal taking of trout in addition to a fine a further penalty of 5/- per fish be inflicted those taken and that the Go- • vernment he requested to take steps to prohibit the importation, sale, or use of the double hook known as the strokehaulers’ hook. It was decided to recommend that the isuing of part-sea-son fishing licences bedi swntinued.
