MISS ISABEL McCORKINDALE.
TO LECTURE AT THAMES. Miss Isabel McCorkindale-. who i.; a director of Educational Work for the Australian W.C.T.U.. will be in Thames on September I. 2, and 3. Miss McCorkindale has recently travelled extensively in Great Britain. Canada. and the United States, and is extremely well iniormed concerning the problems of post-war civilisation in those countries; She has made a special study of the Farm Women’s Organisations in Canada, -and she has an accurate knowledge of the experiments in prohibition and State ownersnip and control made in the North American continent. It is. however, in tlfe scientific method of approaching the subjects with which she deals that lies Miss McCorkindale’s greatest interest and her permanent value. She whites and speaks with a complete grasp of fact and with the conviction that the only success which is worth having is one which is rooted firmly in the mind as well as in the heart.' Miss MeCorkindale has published several books on scientific temperance training, ,'rfhe regards the work now being done by Dr. C. C. Weeks, of the National Temperance League in England, as the best work being done in the world today in this subject, and her efforts are directed on the same lines. Her connection with such organisations as the National Council of Women and Women’s Clubs in different countries ensures that Miss McCorkindale is 110 one-sided enthusiast hut a woman of many-sided interests. It will be a great privilege to meet a woman whose experience and attainments place her in tho front rank of women engaged in Scientific humanitarian work.
